Edward Robert Gubish JR. PhD, 58, of Darnestown,
MD, and formerly of Erie, died on January 10, 2007 at the Shady
Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, MD.
He was born in Pittsburgh on October 21, 1948, the son of Edward R. SR and Eileen McNalley Gubish, both of Erie. He was a graduate of Cathedral Prep and Mercyhurst College and Earned his M.S. and PhD at Cincinnati University . In addition, he did Post Graduate Studies at the Baylor Hospital in Houston , TX and in Seattle, WA. He had worked at ImmunoMed, the National Institutes of Health as an AIDS researcher, The Food and Drug Administration, Fujisawa as Director of Regulatory Affairs, EntreMed as President and C.O.O. and Health Pathways. He was the president of the Darnestown Swim and Racquet Club. He was most recognized as a nature lover, avid fisherman, and stunt kite flier. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his beloved wife, Marcianne Kaminski Gubish . Father of Emily Gubish, Darnestown, MD. Brother of Christopher Gubish, wife Susan, of Beaver, PA, Susan Lewis, husband Barry of Lancaster, PA, Kathleen Nietupski and her husband Ronald and Janet Glover, both of Erie. Loving uncle of Natalie, Lauren and Ryan Nietupski, Elizabeth and Andrew Glover, Ryan, Jordan and Devin Eller, and Matthew and Gregory Kauffman. Also survived by many other family members and a network of friends from far and near.
Friends are invited to call at the A.BRUGGER & SONS FUNERAL HOME LLP, 845 East 38th. St. on Wednesday from 7 to 9 P.M. and on Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M. Services will be held at the funeral Home on Friday at 10:30 A.M . followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Luke Church at 11:00 a.m.Interment will be at the convenience of the family
